History

Where the Plus 1 (F) tuning comes from

Tuning a guitar above standard pitch is rare and has no documented originator. Before the international A = 440 Hz agreement of 1939, pitch standards varied so much that “a semitone sharp” was not even a meaningful idea; today raised tunings are used mostly to fit a singer's key without a capo, or on short-scale and travel guitars where the extra tension is manageable.
